recall alert polestar bumpers could fall off

Polestar has a recall out for 2025 Polestar 3 modes due to a hood bumper defect.

Polestar is recalling a small number of 2025 Polestar 3 SUVs in the United States due to a potential defect with the hood wing bumper. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the part may be missing up to six of its ten mounting bolts, which could allow it to detach while the vehicle is in motion. A detached bumper increases the risk of a crash.

The issue was traced to an error in the assembly process, where production staff failed to follow installation instructions. Quality concerns were first raised in July 2025, and by August the company determined the defect presented a safety risk. A voluntary recall was initiated on August 21, 2025.

Polestar estimates that about 68 vehicles are affected in the U.S. Dealers were notified of the campaign on August 26, and recall information became searchable by VIN on September 1. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed beginning October 20.

The remedy involves a dealer inspection of the hood wing bumper. If any bolts are missing, the entire assembly will be replaced and secured with the correct hardware. All work will be performed free of charge. Polestar has also confirmed that customers who previously paid for related repairs may be eligible for reimbursement.

Owners of a 2025 Polestar 3 can check whether their vehicle is included in the recall by using the NHTSA VIN lookup tool or by contacting their Polestar dealer directly.
