2026 Zeekr 7X orders exceed 2500 as first deliveries commence

Zeekr marked its first year of operations in Australia yesterday with a special handover ceremony at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMP), from which more than 100 customers drove away in their new Zeekr 7X.

The 7X is the third model released here by the Chinese premium electric vehicle (EV) brand in the past 12 months, joining the Zeekr X small SUV and the Zeekr 009 people mover.

A direct rival for the plethora of mid-size electric SUVs now available in Australia, including the top-selling Tesla Model Y (the nation’s most popular EV), the 7X attracted more than 2500 pre-orders before local deliveries commenced this week.

Zeekr says the first 1000 deposits were received within seven days of orders opening last month – before test drives commenced on Monday, October 6.

While the SMP event appears to have been only for New South Wales customers, Zeekr says it continues to secure additional shipments of the 7X “to ensure all launch customers receive their vehicles before the end of 2025”.

The fledgling Chinese automaker, which was founded in 2021 and is now majority-owned by Volvo parent company Geely Holding Group, says 74 per cent of 7X buyers in Australia are new to EVs, and that 70 per cent came from combustion-powered cars, “with many previously driving European brands”.

“This signals strong demand for the premium all-electric vehicle and marks a broader consumer desire for a faster-charging EV with market leading battery technology,” said Zeekr Australia in a press release.

Accompanying images suggest green is hitherto the most popular 7X paint colour, and the dual-motor Performance All-Wheel Drive (AWD) flagship is believed to have attracted the most orders so far.

It’s priced at $72,900 before on-road costs and claimed to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds thanks to combined power and torque outputs of no less than 475kW and 710Nm.

Yet the 7X’s 800V electrical architecture allows its big 100kWh battery to be DC fast-charged from 10-80 per cent in as little as 16 minutes.

Zeekr X pricing starts at $57,900 plus on-roads for the entry-level single-motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant with a 75kWh battery, which offers a 480km range and reduces the 20-80 per cent DC charge time to just 13 minutes.

Offering the same 310kW/440Nm outputs but the larger battery, the mid-spec Long Range RWD variant is priced at $63,900 plus on-roads, and has a claimed driving range of up to 615km.

“Seeing our customers take delivery of their Zeekr 7X for the first time represents more than just the handover of a car, it’s a moment of connection and shared excitement,” said Zeekr International vice president and Zeekr Australia managing director, Frank Li.

“In just one year, we’ve built a community of early adopters who share our vision to imagine beyond, and this milestone celebrates that journey.”

Zeekr Australia now has 12 dealers nationwide and to September this year has sold 730 vehicles, including 580 Zeekr Xs, 97 Zeekr 009s, and 53 Zeekr 7Xs.
