The cabin of the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric has been officially revealed for the first time, and the dramatic new screen-heavy dashboard is said to preview the interior design of future models from the German performance car brand.

In a radical departure from the more conventional designs hitherto seen in Porsche SUVs including the current Cayenne, which will continue to be available alongside the first Cayenne EV in both petrol and plug-in hybrid forms, the large electric SUV will debut the largest digital display ever seen in a Porsche.

Claimed to mark a new milestone in automotive digitisation, Porsche’s new Digital Interaction display is said to transform the Cayenne Electric’s interior into an experiential space by combining the company’s sporting DNA with digital innovation.

It will be accompanied by new comfort features such as power-adjustable rear seats, surface heating, Mood Modes and a much wider variety of colour, material and accent options for personalisation.

At the heart of Porsche’s new digital dash is what’s dubbed the Flow Display – a curved OLED display that flows seamlessly into the centre console and is accompanied by additional screens to forms the largest continuous digital display surface ever offered by Porsche.

Ahead of the driver is a 14.25-inch digital instrument cluster with OLED technology, housing a power meter alongside navigation, driver assistance and infotainment information.

An optional 14.9-inch front passenger screen displays entertainment, app control and video streaming – even when driving, without distracting the driver.

When it’s launched later this year, ahead of its Australian release in 2026, the Cayenne Electric will also be available with an augmented reality head-up display, which projects navigation arrows and lane guidance onto the windscreen with an effective display size of 87 inches.

Porsche says configurable widgets make multimedia operation more intuitive than ever. The colour scheme of all digital surfaces in the interior can be customised via a new Themes App, with five predefined colour schemes to choose from for the appearance of the instrument cluster and other displays.

It claims all occupants in the Cayenne Electric will enjoy significantly more space and comfort features, including standard electrically adjustable rear seats that can range from a comfort position to cargo mode, and the new Mood Modes system that integrates lighting, climate, sound and seating functions to create distinctively different atmospheres to suit everything from relaxed cruising or sporting drives.

A sliding panoramic roof with Variable Light Control is the largest glass sunroof ever fitted in a Porsche. The front section opens like a traditional sliding sunroof, while the entire surface can switch from ‘Clear’ to ‘Matte’ settings via an electrically controlled liquid crystal film. Two additional semi-transparent modes – ‘Semi’ and ‘Bold’ – provide 40 and 60 per cent opacity, respectively.

Also new inside is surface heating, which warms not only the seats but also large contact areas such as armrests and sections of the door panels to produce, complemented by extended ambient and communication lighting.

The first electric Cayenne will also be available with the widest range of customisation options ever available in the large SUV, which remains a five-seater but will offer 13 interior colour combinations, plus four interior packages and five accent packages.

New colour options will include Magnesium Grey, Lavender and Sage Grey, and new material choices in addition to classic leather variants will comprise Race-Tex synthetic suede with Pepita print textile.

Finally, for now, the Cayenne Electric will be backed by a host of new cabin technologies including an AI-powered voice assistant called Voice Pilot to control functions including navigation, climate control, seat heating, ambient lighting and Mood Modes.

There will also be a range of streaming and gaming functions, and the new Porsche Digital Key, which employs Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology to allow drivers to use their smartphones or smartwatches to un/lock the vehicle when they approach/depart. It can be stored in the Wallet app and shared with up to seven additional users.

Camouflaged prototypes of the first battery-powered Cayenne have been subjected to hot and cold weather testing in harsh environments around the world as part of an extensive durability testing program, and have even competed in hill climb competitions.

Watch this space for the full reveal of the new Cayenne Electric late next month.
