2026 Mitsubishi ASX ups prices by $13,000

The new-generation Mitsubishi ASX has been detailed for Australia, where the formerly budget-friendly compact SUV will become a more premium, European-sourced proposition.

Arriving in local showrooms during the fourth quarter of 2025 (October-December), the 2026 Mitsubishi ASX will launch with three trim levels and prices starting from $37,740 plus on-road costs – $13,300 up on the outgoing model’s entry point and even more than the previous flagship grade.

Effectively a rebadged Renault Captur, the new ASX is powered by the same 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 113kW of power and 270Nm of torque, driving the front wheels exclusively via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A version of this engine also powers ‘180’ and ‘200’ versions of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, GLA and GLB.

Compared to the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine of the old Japanese-made ASX, Mitsubishi claims the new turbocharged motor is 16 per cent more fuel-efficient with 19 per cent lower CO2 emissions – quoted at 6.4L/100km and 142g/km. Mitsubishi Australia has confirmed the new engine is homologated to Euro 6e emissions standards.

The three-tier launch range retains “familiar Mitsubishi nameplates”, including LS, Aspire and Exceed. The constant references to the “launch” lineup infers there could be more engine or trim variants coming down the line.

As with the wider Mitsubishi lineup, the new ASX is covered by the Japanese brand’s “10/10 Diamond Advantage” warranty program, which offers up to 10 years/200,000km of cover provided you service within the brand’s network.

There’s a 10-year capped-price servicing program to go with the decade-long conditional warranty, and up to four years of complimentary roadside assistance.

The arrival of the second-generation ASX in Australia comes 15 years after the first-generation model landed Down Under way back in 2010. It has received three facelifts during its lifetime, and remains on sale in some markets.

Australia is receiving the facelifted European-made ASX, which is based on the updated Renault Captur that’s also due on sale locally before year’s end. The badge-engineered Mitsubishi first hit the European market in 2023, and offers mild-hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains globally.

Stay tuned to CarExpert for a first drive review of the new Mitsubishi ASX in the coming weeks, ahead of its arrival in Australian dealerships by the end of 2025.
