Mercedes-AMG has turned up the volume – and value – of its mid-size performance SUV range, by adding performance features and a host of carbon-fibre design elements to the popular GLC43, for less money.
Available to order from today (November 6), the new GLC43 4Matic Carbon Edition is priced at $133,100 before on-road costs for the SUV, and $145,800 before on-roads for the Coupe.
Unusually, despite the extra design and performance features, that represents a saving of $3800 and $1700 over the standard GLC43 SUV and Coupe respectively, which are normally priced at $136,900 and $147,500 plus on-road respectively.

Intended to bring an even sharper focus on driving dynamics and motorsport-inspired design, the Carbon Edition adds the AMG Dynamic Plus Package including dynamic engine mounts and a dedicated Race drive mode for the first time in the GLC.
Power continues to come from AMG’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, producing 310kW of power and 500Nm of torque and good for a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds.
The GLC43 uses the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed automatic transmission and features AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension damping, and rear-axle steering.
Inside, the Carbon Edition adds genuine carbon-fibre trim and a new AMG Performance steering wheel with carbon fibre and Microcut microfibre finish – another first for the GLC43.

The centre console features a black fine-structure finish, while AMG Performance front seats are trimmed in Artico leatherette and Microcut microfibre.
Externally, the Night Package II brings darkened grille elements and dark chrome badging, paired with 21-inch AMG Y-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black with a high-sheen rim flange and red brake calipers.
Standard equipment continues to comprise AMG Dynamic Select drive modes, heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory, a panoramic sunroof, Burmester 3D surround sound system, and MBUX infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A full suite of driver assistance features is also standard, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
