2026 Honda CR-V EX-L Review

2026 honda cr v ex l review

Honda now offers seven trims of CR-V for 2026. Four of them make use of a hybrid powertrain, including the new CR-V TrailSport. The other three continue to motor along with a turbocharged 1.5-liter I-4 engine that pumps out a respectable 190 horsepower and 179 lb.-ft of torque. From there, it channels through a continuously variable transmission and on to the front- or all-four wheels. Is that still enough for the highly competitive, compact crossover market in 2026?

I took the 2026 Honda CR-V EX-L on a quick drive to find out. After-all, it is less expensive, even if you pay the extra $1500 for all-wheel-drive. It also weighs a bit less without having to haul around a battery pack. But the 2.0-liter hybrid motor still generates more power and torque, 204 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft of torque, which more than makes up for the added weight. It’s less thirsty at the pump too.

Regardless of powertrain, however, the latest CR-V offers a mountain of space inside, ergonomics being a long lasting strong suit. With both rows up, the CR-V swallows 39 cubic feet worth of stuff. Lower the second row and that increases to 76 cubic feet. The passengers of both rows also enjoy

Plenty of space to stay comfortable on a longer cruise. If you get the hybrid, it costs less gas to take such a cruise. Is it worth it?
