The 2026 Genesis GV80 range has landed in Australia, headlined by the return of a cheaper four-cylinder engine option as well as the arrival of the new ‘Black’ flagship and some tech upgrades.
Available to order now, the MY26 GV80 SUV reintroduces the 2.5 T-GDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the new entry point, also seeing the base price slashed by $10,000 compared to MY25 to $120,000 plus on-road costs.
The returning base engine is offered only with all-wheel drive, though previously in Australia it was also offered with rear-wheel drive.
The GV80 2.5T gets the same ‘Signature’ specification as the existing 3.5T twin-turbo V6 models, though the four-pot quotes outputs of 224kW/422Nm compared to the 3.5T’s 279kW/530Nm.
It sees an improvement in fuel efficiency, however, quoting 10.4L/100km on the combined cycle versus 11.9L/100km for the 3.5T. Genesis notes the 2.5 T-GDI is a Euro 5-compliant engine that requires 95-octane premium unleaded as a minimum.

The 2.5T drivetrain was dropped for MY24 despite accounting for around 25 per cent of local GV80 sales, with Genesis Australia CEO saying the new GV80 Coupe would “compensate” by accounting for 30 per cent of overall sales for the large luxury SUV.
Atop the range are the new GV80 Black and GV80 Coupe Black models, which are exclusively based on the V6-powered 3.5T Signature grade. V6 Signature models see price increases of $1500-$2000, depending on variant.
The ‘Black Pack’ style editions get a range of dark-themed exclusive appointments, as well as a range of eco-friendly materials, including leather upholstery and door trims dyed using recycled carbon black extracted from waste tyres.
GV80 Black equipment highlights (over Signature):
- Black 22-inch wheels and brake calipers
- Black G-Matrix grille
- Dark-tinted Genesis front emblem and tailgate lettering
- Black body cladding
- Dark-tinted Genesis steering wheel logo

Rounding out the MY26 updates is the Genesis-first implementation of Digital Key 2.0, which augments the existing Genesis Connected Services suite in Australia.
Using near-field communication (NFC) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, Digital Key allows owners to lock and unlock the doors or start the engine remotely using their compatible smartphone or smartwatch.
Digital Key 2.0 can be stored on one device and shared with up to 15 other devices. It also doesn’t require a mobile network signal to work and will continue to function if the smartphone battery is flat.
As before, the GV80 is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre factory warranty with five years or 75,000km worth of complimentary scheduled servicing. 24-hour roadside assistance is thrown in for 10 years.
Buyers can option a six-seat interior on the GV80 3.5T Signature, while the previously offered Rear Seat Entertainment Package has been discontinued for MY26. Matte paint remains a $2000 option.
