2025 Volkswagen T-Roc leaked: New small SUV to look like a Tiguan mini-me

The next-generation Volkswagen T-Roc is looming and, while it will continue to have a rakish, hatchback-like silhouette, it wears a meaner mug like that of the new Tiguan.

Instagram user rollenderreporter uploaded images of what’s claimed to be the new T-Roc to the social media platform, and though they don’t specify where the leaked photos came from they appear to be from the car’s infotainment system.

The second-generation T-Roc is set to debut this year.

The T-Roc appears to be even more closely aligned with the design of the Tiguan and Volkswagen’s ID. family of electric vehicles than before, with a thin grille and light bar connecting its headlights.

Below this is a large radiator inlet, flanked by black moulded trim which sits around what appears to be thin LED lights.

The design of the T-Roc’s wheels is also similar to what some versions of the Tiguan are getting overseas, while its full-width light bar at the rear is another touch previously seen on Volkswagen’s new-generation mid-sized SUV.

While it features a rather Tiguan-like front and rear, the silhouette is pure T-Roc with a steeply raked C-pillar and a hatchback-like silhouette.

The next-generation model is set to be offered in a single body style, unlike the current T-Roc which has additionally been offered in Europe in convertible guise.

Under the skin the T-Roc is expected to move to the MQB Evo architecture of the new Tiguan and offer a choice of petrol and diesel powertrains, with the option of either front- or all-wheel drive.

It could also pick up plug-in hybrid power, like the new Tiguan, though an electric version is unlikely.

It’s unclear if the next T-Roc will offer a hot R variant.

The T-Roc is an important model for Volkswagen globally, even though it isn’t offered in the US market.

  • Current T-Roc

It was the third best-selling vehicle in Europe in 2023, behind only the Tesla Model Y and Dacia Sandero and outselling the Golf.

In Australia, it was the brand’s second best-selling vehicle in 2024 with 7777 sales, behind only the Amarok ute (8400 sales).

The current-generation model entered production in 2017 as a crossover alternative to the Golf, which it has subsequently overtaken in the sales race.
