The Toyota Tundra lineup is set to double in Australia, with the promised higher-spec Platinum trim joining the range half-a-year after the company’s largest pickup truck arrived Down Under.
Due to arrive in Australian showrooms in May, the Tundra Platinum will be priced from $172,990 before on-road costs – a $17,000 jump up from the existing Limited trim.
Externally, the Platinum is distinguished by its chromed-framed grille with a mesh-style insert, dark chrome window trim and side mouldings, black tailgate handle, black 20-inch alloy wheels, and LED lights for the tray bed.

On the inside there’s real leather trim – the Limited has faux leather – with blue stitching, a heated steering wheel with memory settings, rain-sensing wipers, a 10.9-inch colour head-up display, and 10-way power-adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar adjustment and massaging.
Those sitting in the outboard rear seats gain heated and ventilation. Other upgrades include a panoramic roof, satin chrome door handles, and ambient interior lighting.
Features carried over from the Limited include the 12.3-inch instrumentation display, and the 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen that’s mated to a 12-speaker JBL sound system, and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Tundra Platinum buyers can choose between six metallic paint finishes: Eclipse Black, Graphite, Silver Storm, Jungle Khaki, Saturn Blue, and Feverish Red. Frosted White crystal pearl is also available.
Both the Tundra Limited and Platinum are powered by i-Force Max hybrid drivetrain that generates a total of 326kW and 790Nm. It pairs a 290kW/649Nm to a twin-turbo 3.4-litre V6 petrol engine with a 36kW/250Nm electric motor.
While the hybrid drivetrain used in most other Toyota vehicles, such as the Corolla, RAV4, and Camry, employs an e-CVT system, the Tundra’s hybrid setup features an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission.
