Lexus Australia has confirmed it plans to bring the LX Overtrail – a more off-road focused version of its flagship SUV – to local showrooms this year.

Unveiled in October 2024, it’s the second Overtrail-badged Lexus to be added to the brand’s lineup, following the nameplate’s debut on the Toyota Prado-based GX.

Now the same treatment has been given to the LX, with deliveries due to begin in the first half of 2025. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

  • LX500d Overtrail

The LX Overtrail brings more rugged looks to the SUV, with cosmetic changes including a black grille, as well as black trim for the bumpers, wheel arches, mirrors, door handles, and roof rails.

A new Moon Desert exterior finish is exclusive to the Overtrail.

Inside it’s only available as a five-seater, with previous press kit images showing olive and black leather upholstery throughout the interior.

Changes are more than skin-deep, as the LX Overtrail gets front, centre, and rear locking differentials, which help to provide its unique 18-inch wheels and 275/70R18 Toyo Open Country all-terrain tyres the maximum amount of grip at all times.

The Overtrail grade will be available on both the petrol-powered LX600 and diesel-powered LX500d.

The LX600 uses a twin-turbo 3.4-litre petrol V6 producing 305kW of power and 650Nm of torque, while the LX500d uses a twin-turbo 3.3-litre diesel V6 with 227kW and 700Nm.

Based on pricing of the LX’s Toyota LandCruiser twin as well as the GX lineup, it’s expected the Overtrail will slot in around the existing F Sport in the variant range.

For context, the LX500d F Sport is currently priced at $178,976 before on-road costs while the LX600 F Sport costs $182,476 before on-roads.

  • 2025 Lexus LX update

Its arrival will coincide with that of wider updates to the LX range, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (up from 8.0-inch), and an enhanced suite of active safety and driver assist technology (which includes features like Safe Exit Assist, a driver monitoring camera, and the Emergency Driving Stop System).

Lexus is yet to confirm whether it’ll bring the LX700h – powered by a hybridised 3.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 – to Australia as the new flagship of the lineup.

“Lexus Australia is currently evaluating the availability and suitability of this powertrain for Australian customers,” the company said.
